Sound made visible
Several Quantum Sunshine pieces use ultrasound images of the human heart. Many are images of the artist's heart herself, which she acquired as a practicing physician with training in ultrasound. Other images are sourced from upcycled textbooks and scientific archives.
Heart ultrasounds (also known as echocardiograms) show form, function, and the beautiful flow inside the heart's chambers with every beat. The artist creates unique compositions from the images, preserves them carefully, and then uses crystal-clear resin to seal them into elegant jewelry settings.

The magic of microscopy
So many amazing molecules create and influence our physiology- adrenaline, dopamine and sex hormones, to name a few. The artist uses microphotographs which show these everyday molecules magnified by a factor of 1000 or more. Some of them are created in the artist's home studio with her very own microscope, while images of rarer substances are sourced from scientific archives.
She creates abstract sub-compositions using the images to try and distill their essence, channeling the feel and energy of the substance.
